Fly Henry PPG Meter Engine Monitor & Runaway Protection System

The Fly Henry PPG Meter (Model 2024) is an ultra-compact, two-piece Engine Information System engineered specifically for Powered Paragliding (PPG), Paramotor Trikes, and Minimalist Ultralights. Combining dual 1,200°C thermal channels, inductive RPM, and fuel computer functions, it features an automated Start Monitor System that interfaces with the engine kill line to prevent startup runaways. Available with or without an external AAA battery box, and with custom cable lengths to match your chassis.

Display Size 60 × 37 × 15 mm
Power Supply 5–20V or AAA Box
Safety Guard Active Start Monitor
Thermal Range 2x Up to 1,200°C

Power Options & Custom Cable Setup

Select the hardware format that matches your paramotor starting and electrical setup:

Option 01

Direct DC (Electric-Start)

Supplied without an external battery pack for paramotors equipped with electric starters and a 12 V battery. Operates across 5–20 V DC, waking automatically via the RPM sensor when the engine fires up or manually via the ENT button. Tracks live bus voltage with min/max alarms.

Option 02

With AAA Battery Box

Supplied complete with an external AAA battery box (63 × 48 × 15 mm). Engineered for manual pull-start engines (such as Vittorazi Moster 185 Manual, Atom 80, EOS, and Top 80). Includes a programmable Auto-Off timer (up to 250 minutes) to prevent battery drain after flight.

Option 03

Custom Cable Lengths

Supplied standard with a 130 cm thin digital interconnect cable between the display and engine sensing hub. Custom cable lengths can be specified upon order to suit tight competition cages (avoiding excess wire weight) or tandem trike frames requiring extended routing.

Start Monitor System: Active Runaway Prevention

Accidental full-throttle surges during ground starting can lead to serious injuries and prop strikes. The Fly Henry PPG Meter features an automated electronic interlock wired directly to your engine kill switch:

  • Automatic Engine Kill: If the engine exceeds your set Revolution Limit during startup within the designated Time Limit, the PPG Meter grounds the ignition for your selected Alarm Time, cutting the engine immediately.
  • "Just Once" In-Flight Restart Mode: Arms the safety cut-off exclusively during the first ground start after boot-up. If the engine starts normally, the runaway cut-off automatically disarms for subsequent restarts—allowing thermal pilots to turn off their engines in flight and restart with immediate full power.
  • "Always Enabled" Mode: Keeps the startup protection active every time the engine comes to a stop, providing continuous ground safety for routine flight operations.

Flight & Engine Telemetry Functions

Comprehensive diagnostic oversight in a compact, vibration-isolated package:

01

Dual 1,200°C Thermal Array

Monitors up to 2 high-temperature channels (configurable for CHT under-spark-plug rings or threaded exhaust EGT probes) up to 1,200°C (2,192°F) with independent warning thresholds.

02

Inductive RPM Sensing

Senses engine speed by wrapping a dedicated lead 4 to 6 turns around the spark plug HT ignition cable. Compatible with 0.5, 1, or 2 pulses per revolution, with customizable overspeed alarms.

03

Fuel Tracking & Leak Alarm

Supports 3-point tank level calibration (0%, 50%, 100%) to calculate remaining flight airtime. With an optional flow sensor, it tracks live consumption and triggers alarms if fuel flow spikes abnormally.

04

PIN-Secured Timers

Tracks four distinct engine times: an overall cumulative Hobbs meter (lockable via a 4-digit security PIN to prevent resets), two user trip counters, and a maintenance countdown timer.

Technical Specifications

Target Aircraft Powered Paragliders (PPG), Paramotor Trikes, and Ultralights (ULL)
Installation Advisory: The negative power lead must be connected as short as possible directly to the engine case/skelet. If using the Start Monitor System, wire the dedicated yellow lead into your engine stop button line to allow the safety cut-off to ground the ignition in runaway conditions. The unit powers off manually by holding ESC for 4 seconds.
