Flybox GPS4 Receiver Module (Cod. 601090)

The Flybox GPS4 (Cod. 601090) is an active 72-channel concurrent GNSS receiver module designed to provide high-precision satellite positioning and ground speed data directly to Flybox Oblò PFD, Vigilus EIS, and Omnia series instruments. Supplying standard RS232 NMEA-0183 sentences, it enables ground tracking and magnetic declination calculation on the Oblò, and unlocks live flight range and waypoint reserve calculations on Vigilus and Omnia Fuel Computers.

Part Number Cod. 601090
Receiver Engine 72-Ch GPS + GLONASS
Serial Protocol RS232 @ 9600 bps
Voltage Range 8 V – 28 V DC

Unlocked System Capabilities Across Flybox Instruments

The GPS4 receiver feeds live NMEA telemetry to enable critical flight management functions:

  • Flybox Oblò PFD / EFIS: Unlocks real-time ground Track (TRK) indications, provides automatic real-time correction of magnetic declination, and facilitates the automated magnetic compass calibration procedure.
  • Flybox Vigilus EIS: Supplies true Ground Speed (GS) to calculate dynamic flight range (km or NM) and compute projected fuel reserves remaining at destination waypoints.
  • Flybox Omnia Fuel Computer (57 mm & 80 mm): Plugs directly into Pin 11 (COM1 RX) on the 22-pole harness to drive the live RANGE page and calculate waypoint fuel reserves.
  • Flybox Omnia CHRONO: Delivers high-precision atomic satellite time references to automatically synchronise local and Zulu cockpit clocks.

Features & Technical Highlights

Reliable satellite tracking engineered for high-vibration cockpit environments:

01

72-Channel Dual Constellation

Concurrently tracks both GPS and GLONASS satellite constellations across 72 channels. Delivers exceptional position accuracy, rapid time-to-first-fix, and continuous lock even in steep turns.

02

Dual Diagnostic Status LEDs

Features on-body LED annunciators for instant pre-flight verification: a solid Red LED confirms system power, while the Green LED blinks to confirm an active 2D/3D navigation satellite fix.

03

Standard NMEA-0183 Protocol

Transmits standard $GNGGA, $GNGSA, and $GNRMC NMEA sentences at 9600 bps over an RS232 electrical line, ensuring wide compatibility with Flybox instruments and third-party flight hardware.

04

Integrated 2 m Shielded Cable

Supplied with a pre-installed 2.0-metre shielded cable that protects sensitive serial communications against RF interference from VHF radios, transponders, and electronic ignition systems.
