Flybox Omnia ALTI-VARIO (57 mm & 80 mm)
The Flybox Omnia ALTI-VARIO is an advanced solid-state primary flight instrument combining a digital barometric altimeter and vertical speed indicator (VSI / variometer) in a single compact aviation housing. Engineered for Ultralight, Light Sport (LSA), and Experimental aircraft, it provides high-contrast moving tapes, rapid rotary QNH baro adjustment with dual hPa/inHg conversion, and a settable magenta altitude bug. Available in standard 57 mm (2-1/4″) and 80 mm (3-1/8″) round panel cutouts.
Choosing Your Instrument Size
Select the standard round aviation cutout diameter suited to your cockpit panel arrangement:
Omnia57 ALTI-VARIO (57 mm / 2-1/4″)
The compact choice for space-constrained panels, glider pedestals, tandem rear cockpits, or secondary consoles. Features a 68.5 mm × 62.0 mm outer bezel, weighing only 140 g with a low 60 mA power draw. Fits standard 57 mm cutouts (57.5 mm recommended) with up to 10 mm internal screw depth.
Omnia80 ALTI-VARIO (80 mm / 3-1/8″)
The direct drop-in replacement for traditional 3-1/8″ mechanical altimeters. Features an 84.0 mm × 84.0 mm square bezel and expanded display area for high-focus primary flight scanning. Fits standard 80 mm cutouts (80.5 mm recommended) using M4×6mm screws (maximum 3.5 mm internal thread depth).
Operational Capabilities & Altitude Management
Solid-state digital barometric precision engineered for situational awareness:
Dual Altitude & VSI Tapes
Presents real-time barometric altitude and climb/descent rates simultaneously. Features vertical moving tapes alongside boxed digital readouts for instantaneous height and trend monitoring in either Imperial (ft, ft/min) or Metric (m, m/s) units.
Instant Dual-Unit Baro Setting
A single push of the rotary encoder opens the QNH window. Rotating the knob updates the pressure setting across 950–1,050 hPa or 28.05–31.00 inHg, displaying the active setting in large characters with the automatic cross-conversion directly underneath.
Settable Magenta Altitude Bug
Quickly dial in assigned cruise altitudes, traffic pattern heights, or airspace ceilings. A distinct magenta bug rides directly along the altitude tape, providing intuitive visual guidance during climbs and descents.
Ceiling Alarms & Audio Output
Program a maximum altitude ceiling alarm with an adjustable activation delay (0 to 10 seconds) to avoid nuisance alerts. Triggers an open-collector output for cockpit warning lamps or acoustic tones directly into your intercom.
