Genuine Flybox Avionics Interface

Flybox Dual-Channel CAN Bridge for Rotax iS Engines (Cod. 601080)

The Flybox CAN-BRIDGE (Cod. 601080) is an active digital data bridge designed specifically for Rotax 912iS, 915iS, and 916iS fuel-injected engines on Ultralight, Light Sport (LSA), and Experimental aircraft. By reading both Lane A and Lane B CAN buses while keeping them physically isolated, it sends consolidated engine telemetry safely to single-channel cockpit displays—fully respecting official Rotax installation mandates and eliminating single-point bus failure risks.

Part Number Cod. 601080
Engine Target Rotax 912iS / 915iS / 916iS
Bus Architecture 2 In (Isolated) → 1 Out
Operating Bus 10 V – 30 V DC

Operational Capabilities & System Safety

Active bus management engineered to preserve engine data redundancy:

01

True Physical Isolation

Maintains independent physical separation between Rotax ECU Lane A and Lane B. Completely prevents a short circuit or transmission lock-up on one CAN channel from corrupting the entire engine instrumentation system.

02

Single-Channel Conversion

Aggregates and formats dual ECU data into a unified CAN3 output stream, allowing modern single-input EIS displays (such as Flybox Omnia, Vigilus, EngiMaster, and third-party panels) to receive full engine telemetry.

03

Internal 120Ω Terminations

Features integrated 120-ohm bus termination resistors for CAN1, CAN2, and CAN3. Terminations are engaged simply by bridging designated pins on the 16-pin connector—no loose resistors to solder.

04

Dedicated RPM Pulse Out

Outputs a robust 30 V / 1 ms tachometer pulse derived directly from the digital ECU telemetry, ideal for operating constant-speed propeller governors or secondary mechanical/analogue round gauges.

Installation Advisory: Install the CAN-BRIDGE in a dry, ventilated cockpit or avionics bay area away from heat sources (do not exceed +70°C; unit is not waterproof). Always use twisted-pair shielded aviation wire for all CAN-bus connections and ground the shields properly. Verify that line termination rules are observed: if the CAN-BRIDGE is positioned at the physical end of a bus branch, activate its internal 120Ω resistor by jumpering the respective termination pins (Pin 3–11 for CAN1, Pin 5–13 for CAN2, Pin 7–15 for CAN3).
