Flybox Omnia RPM Digital Tachometer & Engine Timer
The Flybox Omnia RPM is a precision digital tachometer, in-flight chronometer, and multi-tier Hobbs meter engineered for Ultralight, Light Sport (LSA), and Experimental aircraft. Featuring high-contrast circular graphic dials, dual-sensitivity electrical inputs, and an automatic flight timer, it provides split Hobbs logging across green, yellow, and red operating zones. Available in standard 57 mm (2-1/4″) and 80 mm (3-1/8″) panel cutouts, with a dedicated Rotax 503 / 582 2-stroke edition.
Choosing Your Model & Format
Select the panel diameter and firmware specification tailored to your powerplant and panel cutout:
Omnia57 RPM (57 mm / 2-1/4″)
The compact choice for space-constrained panels, centre pedestals, or secondary consoles. Features a 68.5 mm × 62.0 mm outer bezel, weighing only 140 g with a low 60 mA power draw. Fits standard 57 mm cutouts (57.5 mm recommended) with up to 10 mm internal screw depth.
Omnia80 RPM (80 mm / 3-1/8″)
The direct drop-in replacement for traditional 3-1/8″ mechanical tachometers. Features an 84.0 mm × 84.0 mm square bezel and expanded 3.5″ display area for primary flight scanning. Fits standard 80 mm cutouts (80.5 mm recommended) using M4×6mm screws (maximum 3.5 mm internal thread depth).
Dedicated Rotax 503 / 582 Model
A specialised factory version configured strictly for 2-stroke Rotax 503 and 582 engines. Pre-configured for Ducati electronic or points ignition generators, eliminating signal noise, erratic pulses, and needle wandering without extensive manual configuration. Available in both 57 mm and 80 mm housings.
Operational Capabilities & Engine Management
Precision tachometry combined with automated flight and maintenance logging:
3-Tier Zone Hobbs Meter
Breaks down engine hours into three distinct counters: total time spent in the green normal operating arc, yellow caution band, and red overspeed zone, providing vital mechanical stress insight for engine logbooks.
Dual RPM Signal Inputs
Equipped with two distinct electrical inputs: RPM L (2–20 Vpp) for electronic ignitions, and RPM H (5–100 Vpp) for alternator coils, pick-up sensors, or ignition coils, supporting 1 to 200 pulses per revolution.
Automated Flight Timer
Automatically recognizes takeoff when engine RPM exceeds your programmed threshold (e.g. 4,000 RPM) for 30 consecutive seconds, stopping automatically when the engine is shut down to record exact airborne flight time.
In-Flight Chrono & Peaks
Includes a secondary lap chronometer resettable at waypoints with a single knob click, non-volatile storage for Last Flight Peak RPM and Lifetime Peak RPM, and an open-collector output for external master warning lights.
